5 to 10 km Course Graduates

Terry and Jude report “our latest 5-10km course consisted of 2 run leaders and 5 runners, all attempting to slowly increase our distance and physical fitness. As a group we made the commitment to run together every week. We also agreed to extend the course by running twice each week of the course, thereby running 6,7,8,9 and10km over 10 weeks. Each week we chose our routes together to ensure that we catered for every need, and nobody felt left behind.

Over the 10 weeks the friendships grew, we all discussed our weekly plans and what our next run would be. We encouraged one another to do the weekly local Park Run and supported each other to manage and overcome the challenges faced including running up hills, running in the rain and even the snow!
Towards the end of the course, we even discovered we wanted to enter distance races, and some of us have signed up for the Frenchay 10km, a local hilly race which is a challenge even for seasoned 10km runners.

Throughout our journey together we witnessed the changes in seasons, slowly going from dark rainy nights and the odd bit of snow thrown in to the lighter warmer evenings.
We have all, including us as the run leaders, felt the benefit of these runs for our physical fitness and our mental health. Along the way we laughed, moaned but most of all we got through it together. We all wanted to publicly recommend the course to anyone, whether you’re starting out on a Couch to 5k or just trying to increase your distance.”
