“I’m not a runner”, ” I can’t run “. So why did I find myself signed up for a couch to 5k course with @justjogbristol 9 weeks ago?
Throughout the course there were many times I asked myself why. The length of time running increased week by week 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 25 minutes! & a bout of illness struck. However with the support, encouragement & belief of Jess & the other run leaders & the support & camaraderie of the others on the course I began to think it might just be possible.
Which is why, 9 weeks later, I found myself at Chipping Sodbury park run. I didn’t break any records! but I did it. I ran 5k & the sense of achievement felt amazing.
Thank you Jess & everyone at @justjogbristol perhaps, after all, “I am a runner” & “I can run”.

After retiring I gradually became less active and became very breathless. My daughter encouraged me to join the Just Jog Couch to 5K course. I was very apprehensive as I had not done any running since I left school, she said it would be a gradual start so I decided to give it a try. I found everyone really friendly and encouraging, by the time I came to the end of the course I was enjoying running and the social side of it.  I then joined the 2 mile group, having friendly people to run with and the encouragement from the run leaders makes it easier to keep going. If I was doing this on my own it would be too easy to stop and not run so far.

I have really enjoyed running and would encourage anyone else considering running to give it a go. If I can do it at my age anyone can!

‘I run regularly in the 4 mile group, it’s a great group for those who want to up the distance but find the 6 mile group a bit daunting! It’s such a friendly group and helps me push myself each week, the run leaders are fab, the routes are interesting. If you fancy stepping up your distance give it a go, you won’t regret it and all paces are welcomed.’
